The Carousel is located at Padre Staples Mall in Corpus Christi Texas
This is an authentic replica of Phillip Schneider's first double-decker Carousel built in Germany in 1898, the Carousel is 25 feet high, 36 feet in diameter and seats over 60 riders on horses, two spinning tubs and two romantic gondolas. The horses are hand painted by Italian artists as are the Venetian scenes surrounding the Carousel's upper and lower facade.
Genuine horse hair is used in the horses' tails. 2,000 light bulbs create an aura of glitting enchantment. The Carousel is made from molds of the original Schneider Carousel.
The original Carousel was operated by horses until 1928, when they were reslaced by a gasoline engine. Finally in 1939 an electric motor was installed.
Now the original Carousel is owned by a non-profit organization, which operated it at several fairs in Germany.
